P90X (Power 90 Xtreme) – Will it Work for You?

Written on: 12 Jan 09 | Filed under: Diets

P90XThe workout program that claims to take one from “regular to ripped in just 90 days” is brought to market by Tony Horton of Beach Body fame.  It is a 12 video program that focuses on “muscle confusion which accelerates the results process by constantly introducing new moves and routines so your body never plateaus, and you never get bored!”  The 12 different workouts include legs & back, chest & back, Cardio X, Ab Ripper X, back & biceps, Plyomentrics, Kenpo X, Core Synergistics, X Stretch, Yoga X, shoulders & arms, and chest, shoulders & triceps.  This program is being touted as the program to do in order to get into the best shape of your life.  In order to follow this program one needs to have access to dumbbells or resistance bands and a chin-up bar.

I will not deny that this is an amazing workout.  However, it is not for the average person just starting out in fitness.  This workout is brutal and requires much dedication to keep at it.  It is far beyond the level that one just starting a fitness program should typically begin at.  Yes, one could start with this program but, if you are experienced and looking to add muscle mass and/or really tone and define then this program might give you better and faster results.

Also, it is not specifically designed aiming for weight loss which many people looking at beginning a fitness program are truly trying to accomplish.  Yes, it will aid in weight loss but only if you also follow a sensible diet plan as well.

My boyfriend and I bought the DVD’s and we have done several workouts. I like the program, but it really kicks your butt and makes you very tired. I would only suggest this program, if you workout regularly.
