Weight Watchers – The New Momentum Program

Weight WatchersJust in time for the New Year Weight Watchers has rolled out their latest program – The Momentum Program – adding to the numerous other programs they have introduced over the last 40 years.  According to Weight Watchers “The Momentum program goes at the things that have always come between you and losing weight, like hunger, mindless snacking, or just a bad day.  You’ll learn to choose foods that keep you full longer, so you don’t eat for the wrong reasons.  Which means you can lose weight and keep it off.”

Weight Watchers has moved into the digital age as well and offers two ways to follow The Momentum program.  One can go to the traditional style Weight Watchers Meetings or do Weight Watchers Online with this program.  Both options have their benefits and are customizable to meet each individuals needs.

The Momentum program is grounded on the “four pillars of healthy weight loss” developed by Weight Watchers.  These pillars are 1) Eat Smarter, 2) Move More, 3) Helpful Habits, and 4) Get Support. 

The Momentum program is being marketed as “a fresh approach to weight loss” by Weight Watchers with the following as the focus to the plan:

  • “Learn to handle hunger and beat temptation”
  • “Stay fuller longer, with delicious Filling Foods”
  • “Make healthy, smart choices second nature”
  • “Get expert information based on the latest nutritional research”
  • “Rely on an easy-to-follow, simple plan”
  • “The Momentum program helps you choose wisely with the POINTS System”
  • “Adapt the plan to your needs, so you can Stop Dieting and Start Living”

Weight Watchers does have a proven track record for providing assistance with successful weight loss.  However, the plans can get expensive and they still are a plan which you must follow instead of simply changing ones lifestyle.  Following a structured plan such as Weight Watchers the Momentum program might be something to consider for your weight loss needs if you require the accountability and other assistance offered by being part of a group.

Wow! I will have to try this new diet! I have not personally tried weight watchers, but my grandmother has and she never stays with it. Maybe with this new program she will stick with the diet!
