Caffeine and Exercise

Written on: 02 Jan 09 | Filed under: Exercise

Most people rely on at least one cup of coffee or for non-coffee addicts, a glass of Pepsi / Coke in the morning to get their day going or to keep them energized.  For years, people believed that caffeine was not good for the body when it came down to exercise and diet.  But, new found studies show that this is not the case and that caffeine may actually be good for the daily exerciser.

According to Hiroshima University, caffeine will boost your body’s nitric oxide levels.  In their most recent study, the University recorded several men consume 300 mg of caffeine.  The caffeine made the men’s forearms blood vessels dilate increasing the amount of blood flow.   Researchers noticed that the nitric oxide levels increased as the men exercised.

Therefore caffeine does boost the body’s stamina and over time, will make the muscles greater in strength.  After the study was tested numerous times, the University published the final results in the Muscle & Boy magazine.   So, the next time you decide to exercise, make yourself a healthy cup of coffee.

I have noticed that when I drink a cup of soda in the morning, I do have more energy and feel like I can actually lift more weights rather than when I skip the soda.
