Learn to Love Your Body

Love Your BodyDo you find it hard to show yourself the same love that you do the people you surround yourself with?  We accept the people that we love flaws and all, so why are we so hard on ourselves especially with how we view our bodies.

Let’s look at a few changes that one can make that will make appreciating and learning to love ones body easier.

  • Perfection is in the eye of the beholder.  Even the people who the media portray as having the “perfect body” are typically not happy with something.  Be it their ears, their feet, their hands, or whatever even they don’t think they are perfect.  So rather than picking yourself apart focus on your best aspects, what it is you love about yourself.  Be it your eyes, your hair, or your voice there must be something that you do appreciate.  Focus on that then allow yourself to grow in what you love about you and your body.

  • Your body is a masterpiece in function.  Consider what your body does each and every day just to maintain life.  It breaks down that food you eat and that liquid you drink into nutrients that sustain you.  It holds you up and carries you around to where you want to go.  Really your body is an amazing thing if you stop and think about it for a moment.  Stop worrying about what you can’t do or can’t change and focus on what you can do and what you can change.

  • Time for a reality check.  Did you know that most of the images you see of supermodels and the like aren’t even real pictures – on top of having a whole team of professionals getting them ready for the pictures those pictures are often touched up after the fact to remove any little wrinkle, blemish or extra curve.  Most of what the media creates is fantasy and we don’t need to buy into fantasy as far as our body is concerned.

  • Start taking care of your body in a safe and honest way.  The answer isn’t diet pills, binging, over exercising or any number of other disrespectful things we can do to our bodies.  It is time to feed it well with healthy foods, and healthy inner dialogue.  It is time to work it well with safe fulfilling exercise.  We only get one body so we need to take care of it and make it the best that we can for oneself and not everyone else.
