Metabolic Syndrome & soda are now said to be linked to one another reported by the Ny Times

According to the NY Times:

Researchers have found a correlation between drinking diet soda and metabolic syndrome — the collection of risk factors for cardiovascular disease and diabetes that include abdominal obesity, high cholesterol and blood glucose levels, and elevated blood pressure.

Research from these finding where tested over a 9 year period, with over 9, 000 men and women. Studies show that westerners have an increased risk because of the extra high intake of refined grains, fried foods and soda. Reports also indicate that there is a 34% increase in developing Metabolic Syndrome if you drink one can or more of soda per day.
