Good Manners and Weight Loss?
Can good manners help in the battle to lose weight? Absolutely!!
One of the things that has gone by the wayside with today’s busy lifestyle is eating at the table. We eat in the car, on the couch watching TV, or standing over the sink much more often than we sit at our dining room tables. Many studies have liked eating in front of the TV with weight gain as it is mindless eating with no attention to the body’s cues as to when it is full.
Another thing that goes together with eating at the table is making conversation while eating. If polite conversation is made while eating instead of listening to music, the TV, or talking on the cell phone then time is taken for a leisurely meal which allows time to again listen to the body’s cues but also give adequate time for digestion.
While conversation is important as we just noted it is also important to not talk with your mouth full. It is easy to overindulge when eating while carrying on a conversation due to not paying attention to what one is eating and rushing.
Use a knife and fork for everything instead of eating with the hands. If time is taken to use these utensils one is able to better control the size of the bites, and listen to the body’s cues about being full.
So, by following these simple tips that Mothers across the world have tried to instill into their children it is indeed possible to help win the battle for weight loss.

I totally agree with this, I eat in the bed, in my car at the movies. I rarely eat at the dinner table, but I am going to start working on my manners!
