So you want to tone up, but the same old stale cardio workouts just aren’t cutting it? Have you considered weight training? Yes, even you ladies! Weight training has been proven and will help change your metabolism from a so so calorie burner to a fiery furnace. If you are serious about shedding fat and getting sleek you must incorporate a little weight training.
For every extra pound of muscle, your body will burn 50 more calories. Who wouldn’t want the extra calories burnt without having to do anything? To list a few other benefits of weight training:

  • Increased Metabolic Rate
  • Injury Prevention
  • Increased Lean Muscle Mass, Mobility and Endurance
  • Graceful Aging

There are many, many other benefits, I just named a few. Ladies, using light weight will NOT make you have a body builder physique. Use light weights with more reps. Men should use moderate to heavy weight with fewer reps for best results. Also be sure to have a balanced nutritional meal plan with the proper amounts of protein and carbohydrates for your body. Later on we will discuss, efficient but effective strength training workouts. Until next time, happy lifting!

I have always worried about lifting too much weight and getting that body builder look. I like to look tone, but do not like the manly look. I stick with light weights as much as possible because at my age I need a fast metabolism. I know that as long as I am lifting some weight I am losing the weight faster.
